Our Field of Dreams

As a third-world mission diocese, Iglesia Episcopal Dominicana does not have the resources it needs to maintain its vigorous rate of growth.  Bishop Julio Holguin has developed a “field of dreams” concept of development.  This concept involves starting a project with the faith that “someone” will provide the additional resources needed to complete the project.  As a result, our churches, schools, clinics, children’s shelters, etc. are literally built on a foundation of faith.  Our brothers and sisters in Christ help in many ways.  These dream-makers include dioceses, churches, foundations and individuals.  Here are some of the mission organizations that are our partners in ministry.

United Thank Offering - UTO has been a major partner for many years.  Since the inception of UTO, over 30 projects with a value of more than $l.5 million have been funded by this organization.

Companion Diocese Program Iglesia Episcopal Dominicana has five active companion dioceses. They are: Dioceses of Southwest Florida, Southeast Florida, Western Louisiana, Georgia, and South Carolina. To learn more about them, click on the name of each diocese.  Individuals and churches from these dioceses have assisted us in many different ways.  They provide scholarships, conduct special fundraising events, send work and medical teams, conduct summer bible school programs, and they have helped reconstruct homes destroyed by hurricanes.

Esperanza International This foundation of retired baseball player David Valle has been a major partner in the development of Clínica Esperanza.   Their participation has been essential in the development of health prevention programs in the San Pedro area.

Episcopal Medical Missions This group helped preserve an old school building which became Clínica Esperanza.  They continue to provide financial support each year.

The Dominican Development Group The offices of this USA tax-deductible organization are located in Florida.  The DDG searches for and develops resources required for diocesan projects.  The DDG is a major and essential partner in obtaining the resources required to build our churches and schools.

Colegio Kids is a not-for-profit organization in the United States dedicated to providing educational opportunities to Dominican  youth.  The group provides scholarships, assistance to Clinica Esperanza, and has made improvements at St. Stephen's school.

HOW TO LEND A HELPING HAND

Iglesia Episcopal Dominicana has been blessed with many partners in mission.  Sunday School classes have sent handicraft materials.  Students have collected school supplies and provided funds to buy computer.  Churches have provided funds for prayers books, hymnals, and books for school libraries.   In touring these web pages you will discover how other groups and individuals have actively lived out Matthew 28:19-20.

Our experience has shown us that there are many people in the United States who would like to participate in the mission of the church.  Yet, many factors may prevent them from serving on a short-term mission team or visiting this country.  Nearly every month, we receive letters asking how groups can support the ministries of this diocese.  Therefore, our clergy and lay leaders have developed a "WISH LIST".  If you believe the Holy Spirit is calling you, your group, or  church to support the ministries of this diocese, you may to help by making one of these wishes come true by selecting an item from this "WISH LIST".
